It was a very successful week for Haverhill Running Club. On Friday, Mary Ann Tuli won some nice silverware for being first FV45 at the Framingham 5 with a speedy 34:03. On Saturday Tony Bacon came 2nd at the Great Notley parkrun, finishing just 12 seconds behind the winner in 18:22.
On Sunday there was a tremendous turnout at the Steeple Bumpstead, with 34 HRC in the 10K and 3 in the 3K!
In the 10K Michael Gilbert came in first! In a great time of 35:51, considering the sweltering conditions. Also defying the hot conditions were Alex Smith and Peter Miller who had a great battle for 4th place, which pushed them both to PB’s! Alex beat Peter by just 2 seconds (40:29)! It was Alex’s 6th PB for this year, and he is now joint 2nd in the PB league.
Peter finished in 5th place with 40:31. Martin Lawrence also finished in the top 10, he came 9th in 42:39. Carl Oldford ran his first 10K race in 1:00:53.
In the 3K Jed Randall came 12th in 15:07. Jacob Catten had an amazing run and was 1st in his age category (age 4-7), running 17:34! Adam Everitt also had a good run coming in 39th place in 19:18, out of 138 runners.
At the Hatfield Forest Hoohaah 10K, Westley Walker came 8th in 41:16. Nigel Fitch ran an impressive 45:49 in his first 10K for the club in 27th place.
Shirley Fowler’s granddaughter ran the Subway 5K in Cambridge in 41:14, not bad for a 2 year old!!!
