There were some great performances at the weekend in some very tough muddy conditions. In the Ouse Valley Way Marathon Andy Barber came 18th overall and he was 3rd MV50! Shirley Fowler found the going tough but still finished in 5:00:22, after running 5.76 miles in the Round Norfolk Relay, and running a marathon the week before. Michelle Brazier Gardner also ran a marathon the week before and was about 7 minutes quicker this week (5:21:32)!
A great time was had by all at the Round Norfolk Relay, and the team finished in 27th place out of 61 teams. Bryan Rootes had an excellent run, he was 10th fastest on his stage and 5th fastest in his age category. He also had the best age performance score from Haverhill. Trev Bunch was 15th fastest on his stage and also 5th in his age category. Alex Smith was 21st fastest on his stage and 1st in his age category! Karen Martin was 4th fastest in her age category.
Sarah Stuppell was the only runner to move up the PB league this week. She got a PB at the Gorleston parkrun, taking 1min 4seconds off her previous best!
The Hatfield Forest Half Marathon was like a 13.1 mile cross country run, which Grace Judge and Cherilyn Lane thoroughly enjoyed as can be seen in the photo below.
Ross Arnold completed the Harvest Trail Half Marathon in 2:22:13. He’s planning on getting a PB on an easier course in Ipswich next week.
Maria Reed was first Haverhill runner in the Shelford 5K fun run. Josh Iron did well after cycling 21 miles to the race and missing the start by 10 minutes!
John Nevin impressively competed in the World Triathlon Championships in Rotterdam. He finished 36th out of 46 starters in his age category.
