If you haven’t been before head into the grounds from Eastern Ave, follow round to the car park at the very back and you will see the entrance to the fields on the left. Meet here and all sessions will start at 6:30pm.

Who: Andrew Bell with support from Stuart Sheppherd

What: Reps using the track

A new training plan for the summer is currently being finalised and I will post as soon as we have finished it!

There are some biting creatures hiding at Castle Manor – as it gets further into summer bug spray would be a good idea!!

When: Tuesday 7:30pm
What: Community running group – See Yusuf’s post

——————————-

When: Thursday 7:00pm

Where: Leisure centre

Who: Steve Oglesby – 9 min mile, Jamie Randall – 11 min mile, Dave Greenham? and Wendy Aldhouse – 12 min mile

What: Club Run – Summer route 2 – Culina-Garlands Farm

Join railway path behind Leisure Centre and turn right.
Cross Manor Road then look for the footpath on the right that goes through the bushes.
Follow this over Sturmer Arches viaduct and round the perimeter of Culina.
Cross over the bypass and follow the footpath across the field and straight over the dirt track and across another field uphill.
Go through the gap in the hedge then follow the path along the hedge as it goes left and loops round a small wood then heads right alongside a ditch.
Follow this towards the end of the field and turn right over a small footbridge.
Follow the path round the field edge and go through Garlands Farm to join a tarmac farm track then cross the Haverhill Road and through a green gate into a meadow by a lake.
At the end of the grass track turn right and join a footpath that goes up the hill alongside a ditch.
At the top join a track and turn right and take the footpath uphill on the left side of the hedgerow until you reach the farm on the corner of the Bumpstead Road.
Turn left onto the Haverhill Road and over the bypass roundabout and head towards Sturmer Arches.
Go past the Hollands Road turn off then take the old railway footpath on the left to the new houses at the back of the Old Croft football ground follow your nose back to the leisure centre.

Things to consider when we are out further a field:
Bring water if it is hot! There is less chance of getting hold of some in the middle of a field than in town!
Trail shoes may be useful especially if it has been raining – that happens now and again in England! 🙄😫 But they are not essential – it’s up to you
Please try to wear bright/hi-viz clothing
Pacers/leaders please carry a mobile phone in case of any problems
Pacers/leaders please try to stick to pace but all runners need to be aware this can be more variable off road!

Any questions please let us know. This isn’t hard-core off roading so if you haven’t done a summer route before please don’t worry – come along and enjoy Thursday runs!

Is 6:30 or 7pm too late for you to run?

You may also want to consider the small but perfectly formed 6:00pm group led by Shirley Fowler – another of our qualified coaches. They meet at the Leisure Centre each week.

The 6pm group follow this plan each session:
run between 8-11 min miles, Tuesday we do 3-4 miles ( and incorporate training in the run e.g hills or speed) Thursday is a little faster run with less stops 5-7 miles and off road in summer. All abilities are welcome to come give us a go.

Races this week:
12/05 Waterbeach 10K, 5K, 2K & 100m
12/05 Ipswich Twilight 5K & 2K
