Kelly Mepham 1st in Newmarket!

It was another successful outing for Haverhill Running Club at the Kevin Henry 5K race on the racecourse in Newmarket. Incredibly 90 members turned up to run, all earning a valuable point. Our top 5 men and top 5 women earned extra points. For the women Kelly Mepham was the first female in the whole race! She got a new PB of 19:03 and improves her time in 2nd place in the club records! Sian-Marie Lucas was 10th female 20:38. Kirsty Millard was 22nd 22:13. Cheryl Trundle was 43rd 24:24 & Sirkka Love was 49th 24:44.
For the men Michael Gilbert put in another great performance to come 2nd 15:59. Next was Peter Miller in 7th place improving his best time by 2 seconds and he is moves into 4th outright on the club records 16:43. Mat Bigley came 13th 17:14. Andrew Bell was 17th 17:31 and Alex Smith despite twisting his ankle finished in 26th place 17:59.
There were a few more PB’s which is very impressive considering there was a lot of soft sand on the course. Bryn Stuppell got one 31:19. Stacey Anne Hall took 7 seconds off her best, bringing it down to 29:19. Luke Withers improved his best time by 14 seconds, his new time to beat is 21:10.
Jemma Benson ran 32:53, taking 13 seconds off her best. Westley Walker just beat his PB by 1 second, 18:31. Charlotte Denley took 7 seconds off, running 28:01. Jo Johnson took a massive 1:05 off her best, PB now 30:25. Suzanne Pattinson also took a good chunk off, 37 seconds, to give her 26:24. Rob Goodwin managed 2 PB’s in less than 48 hours! He ran 24:33 at the Kevin Henry race on Thursday and then ran 24:06 at the Haverhill parkrun on Saturday! Lee Brown was 6th in the Haverhill parkrun 19:59.
Ian Elden ran a 5K PB of 18:41 also at a parkrun. Louise Thompson showed how much she has improved in 6 months, by running the Poolsbrook parkrun in 32:45, nearly 5 minutes quicker than she ran it half a year ago!
Sirkka Love was first FV60 at the Suffolk Trial Festival 10K 54:26.
Tony Bacon coming back from injury & illness, ran the British Masters 5K road championships and finished in 17:44 and was 7th in his age category.
Andy Brown got a sprint triathlon best, at the Sudbury Triathlon. He finished in 97:37.
