At the Newmarket 10K on Sunday, Michael Gilbert continued his winning streak, that’s 3 in a row now! He finished 1st in 36:15 and also led the mens team to victory with Andrew Bell coming 4th 37:22 and Tony Bacon finishing 6th 37:45.
Kelly Mepham also got another victory, even though she had to crawl to the line after pushing herself so hard in the heat! She finished in a new PB time of 41:36 which moves her up to 3rd on the club records. Cheryl Trundle also won a trophy for being first female over 60 finishing in 55:07.
Also getting PB’s at Newmarket were David Percy 41:06, Steve Oglesby 51:35, Claire Anderson 1:00:10 and Kelly Hamed 1:09:38 (7 minutes quicker than previous best!).
In the Stort 5 mile race Alex Smith came 2nd 30:08.
Shirley Fowler ran 4 marathons in 4 days at the Great Barrow Summer Challenge! Her quickest was on day 3, where she ran 4:38:22. Kirsty Millard, Simon Wallis and Jackie Dockerill all ran 2 Marathons in 2 days!
At the Stowmarket Friday 5 Steve Oglesby got another PB 38:29. He is now 2nd in the PB league just one off the top! Karina Hunt got her first PB of the year, and it was massive! She ran 52:18, almost 6 minutes quicker than she’d ran before!
The handicap 5 mile club time trial was very successful with many people getting PB’s. Claire Anderson was first across the line running 45:24. This was over 3 minutes quicker than her expected time! Next in was Carl Oldford running 41:02 in his first 5 mile race. 3rd was Emma Louise Brown in a new PB time of 56:09, which was incredibly nearly 9 minutes quicker than the time she ran in Sudbury! Andrew Bell ran the quickest time 29:27. Bryn Stuppell got a PB of 50:21. Jamie Randall ran 34:16 and got his first PB in a long time, taking 1 minute off his previous best! Last years PB King Kevin Millard ran 33:31 taking over a minute off his best time! Clair Gale ran 44:44 taking over 5 minutes off her previous best! Mark White improved his best by half a minute to record 31:18. David Percy took an amazing 8 minutes off his best with 32:02! He moves up into 2nd in the PB league with 8. Kristina Bright ran 43:41 a minute and a half quicker than her previous best. She retains 2nd place in the league but now has to share it with Steve and David. Sarah Stuppell 57:17, 1:43 better than her previous best. Daniel Everitt got a new PB 43:14. Keeley White ran 51:13 a 50 second improvement on her best.
Dougie Millard got a 5K PB at the Haverhill parkrun 30:09 nearly a 2 minute improvement! Beginner James Wright ran 25:42 his first 5K and beat Ross Arnold in a sprint finish! Paul James Game finished 3rd 19:16.
