Peter Miller 2nd at Carver Barracks!

Peter Miller had a storming run at the Kevin Henry 5K at Carver Barracks. He came in 2nd place which is his best ever position in a Kevin Henry race. He ran 16:13 improving his personal best by 30 seconds! Andrew Bell came 9th in 16:54 and Mat Bigley came 11th in 16:58. Steve Masonand Charlie Hall had a tremendous sprint finish with Steve just pipping Charlie, but both finished in the same time of 17:18. Both pushed each other to PB’s, with Steve now 6th in the club records and Charlie in 7th. Charlie has tremendous potential, as he has only been training for a few weeks, and at the moment only trains about once a week!
In the ladies race Sian-Marie Lucas had a great run finishing in 5th place in 19:40. Kirsty Millard was 14th in a PB time of 21:19, she remains 6th on the club records. Cheryl Trundle was 32nd in 23:12. Michaela Cowell was 38th in 24:29 and Sirkka Love was just behind in 39th 24:31.
We had an amazing 76 runners running, all earning a point for the team and there were loads of PB’s: Clair Gale got a 1 second PB 26:28. Kelly Hamed ran 29:17 knocking 30 seconds off her PB. Kristina Bright ran 25:29, 6 seconds better than her previous best. Keeley White finally got under sub 30, with 29:27. Reigning PB King Kevin Millard recorded 19:50, taking 8 seconds off his PB. Charlotte Denley knocked 52 seconds off her PB, finishing in 27:09. Mandy Wilson had a huge improvement of over 3 minutes with 34:09. Jemma Benson was well over 2 minutes quicker than her previous best, finishing in 30:37.
Craig Sisson ran 18:00 taking one second off his best. Grace Judge got a 33 second PB, now 25:16. Stacey Anne Hall took nearly 2 minutes off her best, finishing in 27:28. Jo Vickery got a 27:08 PB. Emma Moss got a 24:45 PB. Suzanne Pattinson took her PB from 26:30 to 25:47. Westley Walker got a PB and it was by more than a second! This time he ran 26 seconds quicker than his best to record 18:05. Marion Goddard got a 33:36 PB. David Percy ran under 19 minutes for the first time with 18:56. Nicholas Clay ran a 25:22 PB.
Tony Bacon had a busy racing week. A week ago on Sunday he came first in the Fen Gallop 4 Mile race in 23:19. Then last Tuesday he ran in Wales in the Redwick 4 mile race in 23:21 in 20th place. Last Wednesday he competed in the Essex 10,000m championships running 36:44 in 9th place and then on Thursday he ran 17:25 in the Kevin Henry race coming 23rd!
There was a good turnout of 19 runners in the Wibbly Wobbly Log Jog which is a tough off road run in Thetford Forest approximately 5 miles. Yusuf Firat was our first runner to finish in 22nd place 37:47. Michaela Cowell was our first lady to finish coming 110th overall in 46:34. Sirkka Love was first in her age category F60-64 48:32.
In the St Ives 10K on Sunday, Luke Withers got a big PB knocking about 4 minutes off his previous best to finish in 46:15!
Also on Sunday, in the British 10K Stacey Anne Hall and Kelly Hamed both got massive PB’s! It was also the 2nd PB of the week for both! Stacey ran 1:00:55 taking an incredible 9 minutes off her best! Kelly ran 1:04:32, taking 5 minutes off her best, and amazingly 12 minutes quicker than her time in the same race last year!
There was a great turnout for the Ekiden relays in Woodbridge on Sunday. Our quickest team (Charlie Hall, Sian-Marie Lucas, Steve Mason, Mark White, Peter Miller & Mat Bigley) finished the marathon distance in 2:40:39, and finished 6th in their category out of 35 teams. Steve Oglesby was the only one to get a PB! He ran his 10K leg in 50:30, taking a minute and 5 seconds off his previous best!
The PB league has got very close at the top, with four runners all on 9 PB’s! Josh Iron is joined by Kristina Bright, David Percy and Steve Oglesby!
