🏃🏼♂️1978: Broke foot in 5 places in vehicle accident – did long slow runs to get back running and then decided that he should try a marathon
🏃🏼♂️1979: Essone Marathon, Paris – first marathon, finished 11th in 2.21.
🏃🏼♂️1979: Polytechnique Marathon Windsor – 1st in 2.19
🏃🏼♂️1980: Milton Keynes Olympic Trials – 11th in 2.18
🏃🏼♂️1981: National Marathon Champs, Rugby – 3rd in 2.16
🏃🏼♂️1982: National 20 Miles champion – 1hr 42min
🏃🏼♂️1982: National 10 Miles Champion – 47min 40 sec
🏃🏼♂️1982: London Marathon – 3rd – 2hrs 12mins 30sec

Mike has a Degree in Physical Education & is a
coach in club structure since the age of 18. He has trained GB Internationals – Barry Royden (2.17 Marathon/61min half marathon/2nd in National Cross Country), Toby Lambert (2.17 Marathon), Janice Moorekite (winner Manchester Marathon 2hrs 48mins)
Mike will talk on how to build endurance generally and specifically for the marathon distance. Principles and importance of fat metabolism for marathon running, training zones, long run duration, tempo/threshold running, Interval running and recovery runs, and how to put them into a balanced programme.
It will be a great talk and will inspire all of us who are about to embark on our spring marathon training & those who might consider one in the future
