Off road dominates for HRC this week!

Its been an off road kind of week!!
Eighteen HRC runners attended the Haughley Park cross country for a frosty trek round the five mile course. Peter Miller was first HRC male home and secured a top 10 placing. First HRC female across the line was Karen Martin who had a great run after a long run the day before! Five juniors took part with Adam Everett jumping in at the eleventh hour to provide a full team, all of whom ran excellent races! Moses Bigley also ran brilliantly in the U11 race!
Another off road event took place, this time it was the fifteen mile Benfleet 15. This is a difficult but enjoyable event where previous runners have found trail shoes are a necessity if you want to actually stay on your feet!! Steve Mason was first HRC runner home in 16th position of over 800 runners and nabbed a 40 second PB. He was closely followed by Trev Bunch in 24th in a time of 1:43:17 which was a PB by over 4 minutes! Craig Sisson came 51st in his longest ever race to date and Polly Wells, Claire Anderson and Michelle Brazier Gardner all braved the chilly conditions to complete the race in excellent times.

Shirley Fowler and Jackie Dockerill also headed off-road and completed the Braintree Boggle marathon, easily earning their tea and toast at the end!!

 

Jane Jamieson managed to get a PB at the Snetterton 10K racetrack event.
In park run news Tony Bacon clinched first in the Haverhill parkrun, followed by Paul James Game and Paul Murkin to give another HRC dominated event! Ross Arnold ran his fastest Haverhill park run time. Sarah Murkin was first female home.
Char Green got a 20s PB (31:25) at Snetterton and Nicola King ran her fastest time on the course in 30:49.
Six HRC runners ran at Clare this week and HRC claimed the 2nd (Paul Krause), 3rd (Chris Hawkins) and 4th (Luke Withers) spots. Luke Withers ran his fastest time at Clare, finishing fourth overall and first in his age category in a time of 20:35.
Four runners travelled to Bury for park run and Alison Goodwin claimed a course fastest time.
Terry Braverman is getting closer to his 400th, yes 400th park run. He ran number 372 at Wimpole this week!
Fiona Tideswell ran a course best at Coldhams Common and finished 2nd lady.
Hayley Wilson did some park run tourism and ran at Newark park run. Nigel Chapman, Debbie Hartshorn, Paul Brough and Stephen Miller all ran at Holkham park run
