HRC out in force!!!!

 
Paul Murkin (20:02) took first place at Haverhill parkrun this week and Fiona Tideswell (21:50) finished in an impressive fourth place. Joining them at Haverhill this week was Sarah Murkin (16, 27:08), Andy Brown (21st, 28:56), Graeme Johnston (13th, 25:38), and Sally Johnston (43, 42:24).
 
Shirley Fowler (159th, 24:44) finished 1st in her age category at Finsbury parkrun this week! Joaquin Monteiro (143, 28:27) ran at Bury St Edmunds. At Wimpole Estate Terry Braverman (310th, 40:46) ran his 374th parkrun! Ian Elden (4th, 18:25) got another PB for 5k at Felixstowe parkrun. By managing to shave off 10 seconds!
 
HRC saw two 1st places at Clare Castle this week! Luke Withers (20:15) got the 1st place he has been inching towards over the past few weeks! Vashti Macdonald-Clink then ran a parkrun best and clinched the 1st lady position in 22:34. Craig Ladley (21:36) ran his best parkrun time and finished in 3rd this week, with Jamie Randall (22:25) not far behind in 8th. Alison Clark (77th, 35:46) got a PB by over two minutes! Great runs were also had by Alison Goodwin (37th, 26:45), Kevin Jamieson (53rd, 29:53), Rob Goodwin (39, 27:09) and Ross Arnold (24th, 24:28).
 
Kim Mcginley (147th, 34:33) wins the distance prize again this week after another run at Melkbosstrand in South Africa. She gained 129 places and knocked over four minutes off the previous weeks time!
 
Lots of HRC travelled down to London this weekend for the popular London Winter Run. They got to hug a polar bear, see the sights and enjoy some live music – all whilst running a 10K! Alison Goodwin (4964th) was first home for HRC in a time of 54:02, closely followed by Clair Gale (5210th, 54:22) who smashed her 10K PB by over three minutes! Lisa Harling (6196th, 56:01) got a PB, improving her previous 10K by a minute and a half. Justine Klingler (7802nd, 58:22) got a PB, as did Denise Tarrant (8023rd, 58:41), Karina Hunt (11212th, 1:03:23), Nicola King (11718th, 1:04:13), Annette Hall, (13030th, 1:06:34), Suz Carter-White by 3 and a half minutes (14511th, 1:09:32) and Sally Johnston (15474th, 1:12:06) by over five and a half minutes. Louise Harris (15626, 1:12:29), Caroline Duckworth (10782nd, 1:02:46), Cheryl Eden (10828th, 1:02:50), Dionne Walford (13812, 1:08:01) all had great runs in their first 10K races!! Also having great runs in London were Michelle Gardner (10324th, 1:02:05), Stacey Hall (10378th, 1:02:11),Kelly Hamed (11319th, 1:03:34), Charlotte Denley (13447, 1:07:18), Helen Parnell (14064, 1:08:34) and Lynette Garstang (16515th, 1:15:51).
 
The Great Bentley Half, another very popular race also produced lots of great performances this weekend! First home for HRC was Craig Sisson in a brilliant time of 1:23:30, claiming 68th position. Westley Walker (99th, 1:26:36) claimed a PB by nearly two minutes in the race. Karen Martin (184th, 1:35:20) got a well earned PB and knocked 2 minutes and 20 seconds off her previous half marathon best! Not only was it a PB but also the 34th best HM time for the V35 category so far this year and puts her 8th on the club records! Brilliant! Ross Arnold (364th, 1:49:33) also got a PB by over three and a half minutes and dropped under the 1h 50 mark! Also running well at this event were Mark White (154th, 1:32:04), Lee Brown (170th, 1:34:09), Yusuf Firat (196th, 1:36:55), Vashti Macdonald-Clink (297th, 1:45:24), Graham Dixon (352nd, 1:49:53), Lee Taylor (480th, 2:00:53) and Steve Halls (498th, 2:02:07). Well done everybody!
 
Tony Bacon competed on the track this weekend at Lee Valley in the Essex County and Eastern AA Championships. He claimed 4th in the M35 300m in 46:43 seconds and another 4th in the 1500m (4:55:50)
 
In last weeks wintery time trial Cheryl Eden bagged herself a 5K PB, finishing in 30:47. Also grabbing PBs in the cold were Becca Sims (35:14) and Sally Johnston (35:08). Sally’s new PB is over TEN minutes faster than her beginners 5k time trial! Brilliant running everyone who braved the cold!! Craig Ladley also knocked 31 seconds off his PB from Saturday
In non-racing running Caitlin Howard ran her fist ten miles. Hayley Wilson finally dragged herself out of bed in time to see the sunrise whilst running! Gina Hickey ran her longest distance so far- 9 miles, well done!
