This week we hosted our very own cross country event at Castle Manor School. The event was a great success and we provided a tough and technical course for 230 runners. 26 HRC senior runners and 14 juniors ran. Peter Miller was first home in 4th position. Karen Martin was first HRC lady over the line in 68th position after having already run ten miles that morning AND being last runner for the junior race!
Elsewhere a number of runners headed to London for the London Landmarks Half Marathon. There were lots of half debuts here including Clair Gale, Gina Hickey and Marion Goddard. Nicola King and Lynette Garstang both got PBs here also of nearly four minutes and over ten minutes respectively.
Craig Sisson entered the club records in ninth position in his first twenty mile race at Oakley! Lisa Harling was also running here – completing her first twenty mile run.
Fiona Tideswell had a great run at the Runfest Half in Lee Valley where she finished 3rd lady and also nabbed the 4th position on the club records.
Ian Elden is chipping away at his half times and getting closer to sub 85 minutes after his run at Colchester Half!
At parkrun Ross Arnold got a course PB at Clare and Luke Withers squeaked a 1 second PB. Cheryl Eden also got a 5K PB at Haverhill parkrun this week. Paul Game finished first at Clacton Seafront in 19:15.
