This weekend saw the second fixture of the Suffolk Grand Prix, the Bungay Festival of Running, hosted by Bungay Black Dog running club. Some tough courses still yielded lots of PBs and prizes for HRC.
In the marathon Shirley Fowler was out again for number 78 and had an excellent run to finish first in her age category! Luke Withers and Daniel Pelling both ran in the half marathon and both gained new half PBs. Both of them are now nicely under 1:40 for a half – well done gents! Eleven runners took part in the 10K. Cheryl Eden, Naomi Shelmerdine and Karen Martin all got PBs in this event. Not content with 2019 entries in the club records for 5K, half marathon, 20 mile and marathon distances Karens time also puts her 5th on the 10K records! She also claimed the 1st FS trophy and finished fourth lady overall!
Some great results and turnout should stand us in good stead with the Suffolk GP – hopefully we will see some of the current standings soon.
HRC were working hard at parkrun this week. Trudy Brown managed a PB since her previous time trial run. Freddie Millard continued his PB streak by improving his time by one second and brother Dougie also managed a PB of over a minute and a half. His best time is now an impressive 24:13. Shirley Fowler got a 1st in age category at Gorlstone and Alison Clark knocked over two minutes off her previous best.
