HRC sets a KH record!

This week saw the first race of the annual Kevin Henry 5k league. The race was hosted by Cambridge Triathlon Club and run around concrete tracks in Impington. As a club lets have a massive pat on the back for setting the 2019 bar for KH events! More than than 100 of you lovely lot turned out the first time a club has managed this in the first race of the season. Lots of new members ran for the first time and many runners beat previous best times set over the 5K distance. 

Tony Gooding made it under 20 minutes for a 5k for the first time – an amazing achievement!  Cheryl Eden got a new PB along with Danielle Pettiford, Dionne Walford, Denise Tarrant, Annette Hall, Becca Sims, Michelle Seymour, Tracy Lane, Graeme Johnston, Tracy Quarrell, Joan Nevin, Sally Johnston and Mark Phillips! Phew! Congratulations to everyone who ran. See Karens post for details of our tastes runners who scored additional points. Nicki Davis had an amazing run finishing 2nd lady overall and her time puts her 2nd on the club record! Just one second behind the top spot. Not bad for her first KH with us! Four of our junior runners, Benji Darken, Sorren Spall, Angus Duckworth and Juliet Bigley also attended and gave many seniors a run for their money!

This strong performance across the club means that we are currently in 3rd position overall with our ladies in 2nd and men in 4th. 

Not content with a Thursday 5K fourteen of you headed to Sudbury for the Sudbury Fun Run (5 miles). Karen Martin had a great run, beating her previous time by a minute and a half keeping her firmly in the club records again! Emma Louise Brown got a new PB and a time under 1 hour for the first time at this distance – well done!

This week dedicated runner Maria Reed ran her first marathon at Great Barrow! Congratulations Maria – maybe many more to come?

In parkrun news there were loads of runner out this week! Cherilyn Lane wins the distance prize this week – she completed the Albert parkrun all the way out in Melbourne! Paul Brough was also down south but not quite as far in Ashford! Terry Braverman has 15 runs to go before he hits his 400th parkrun! Fiona Tideswell grabbed the 1st lady spot this week at a very busy Cambridge parkrun. Sally and Graeme were up north in Gainsborough for what sounded like a tough run and finished together in style. We also had runners out in Harwich (Paul Game) and Holkham (Trev Bunch) who both finished in the top 10, 6th and 5th respectively. Sara Hammett-Ridsdale got a new PB at Haverhill.
