The Ashdon 10k was back this weekend, one of the more infamously difficult local 10k races. Despite the hills there were some great performances, pbs and a win! Benji Darken ran a brilliant race in the 3k fun run and cruised home in first place with a new PB. Well done Benji, great to see our juniors out and about! Fellow junior runner George Noakes also had a great run and finished ninth with a PB too. Andrew Bell ran a strong race and finished fourth in 37:30. Dave Percy got a PB at this race too, finishing in 40:55, along with new member Liam Connaughton who also got a PB. Great to see lots of HRC runners supporting this hilly but enjoyable race!!
The Milton Keynes Running weekend was also held over the bank holiday. Christine Taylor ran the marathon and got a PB, finishing in 4:34:38. Mum Cromarty-Reader chose this as her fifth marathon and ran a strong race despite the dreaded leg cramp during the last stretch.
The Two Castles trail half marathon saw Daniel Pelling finish in third with Carl Oldford and Tracy Quarrell finishing in fifth and sixth place. New on the radar this sounds like a lovely, scenic off road run with the added fun of it being self guided.
It was Great Barrow weekend again and Ruth Bayne had the thrill of leading out the 10k race. Sounds like a great experience.
Lee Brown got a PB at Breckland 10k, Naomi Shelmerdine ran one at Fen Drayton 10k and Westley Walker got a PB at the High Easter 10k.
But of course it’s not all about the times – sometimes it’s about the hydration. Some HRC runners tested out some different race hydration this weekend down in Devon at the Ciderthon Half Marathon. Verdict was that pints surprisingly don’t make PBs but the event did make for a memorable weekend. Well done everyone on getting back in one piece!
