Winners!! After some excellent third place finishes Ben Phillips leapfrogged second place and claimed first place in the Great Bentley 2K juniors event! He also finished first in his age category for the whole series! Sophie Russel finished a brilliant third in her age category too and the juniors finished third overall in their first season competing in the Friday 5 series! HRC are very proud and well done to all the hard work put in by the junior runners and Sil and her coaching team!
At the Newmarket 10K fun run Dougie Millard came 1st in the U8 race! He’s going from strength to strength even at such a young age!
The final race of the Friday 5 series was held on Friday in rather warm weather! Well done everyone who ran – not easy in the heat. Clare Everett got ANOTHER PB! With another minute off her five mile time. Five others braved the heat for the final race including Westley Walker, Jamie Randall, Mark Phillips, Lee Taylor and Karina Hunt. HRC finished 8th out of 58 clubs that had runners attend one or more races! A brilliant result – especially when some of the races are quite a distance away for a Friday night.
The Marcus Gynn Newmarket 10K was held this weekend – a great course but with a bit of a hill at the end which can catch you out! Daniel Pelling ran his first 10K under 45 minutes with a PB of 1 min 30s and David Percy broke the sub 40 minute barrier with a 53 second PB to finish in 39:57 and 3rd MV40! Jamie Randall ran a great race finishing in 2nd MV50 and 42:52 which is a 3 and a half minute PB! Tracy Quarrell got her first trophy in an event this weekend! She finished 1st FV45 and also got some sausages as a prize! She managed this by running a huge PB of nearly 4 minutes and getting well under sub 50. Martin Lawrence was 1st M55 and Cheryl Trundle 1st FV60, Congratulations everyone!
There were some Race for Life events last week and Karina ran the 5K and Louise Harris had a good run in the 10K.
Hayley Wilson went to Norfolk and ran the East Harling 10K – finishing 3 and a half minutes faster than at Steeple Bumpstead 10K.
Tracy Quarrell was 1st lady at a busy Haverhill parkrun. Terry Braverman has six runs to go before he hits 400 parkruns!!!! In fact there were lots of great parkrun performances this week – you can look at what HRC got up to here: https://www.parkrun.com/results/consolidatedclub/?clubNum=1707
