Helpers required!

We have been approached to see if anyone is willing to help out at the Freedom of Haverhill event. Please see the details below. It would be great if anyone can help out and represent HRC at this important event. Please comment or message me ASAP. 

On Sunday 6 October, Haverhill Town Council is granting the ‘Freedom of Haverhill’ to the Royal Anglian Regiment. This event will see approx. 150 troops with a marching band parade through on a route through Haverhill Town Centre with ‘drums beating, colours flying and bayonets fixed’.

This is an honour that has been given to the Royal Anglians by a number of other towns in the region. They have recently returned from duty in Afghanistan and the current Commanding Officer went to school in Haverhill.

We expect this event to attract large crowds to the centre of Haverhill and to be an exciting and unique spectacle for the town. As you can see we are having to organise the parade at relatively short notice and we are looking for volunteers to supplement Town Council staff to steward the event in order that it can take place safely and effectively.

We are approaching groups and individuals within the town who may have previously been involved in public events in the hope that they may be able to provide stewards to assist with ensuring the event runs smoothly and without incident.

What we are looking for in individuals who are:

Aged 16+

Calm and confident when dealing with the public

Having some experience of attending or taking part in public events

The provisional timings are:

1.30pm Arrival at Haverhill Market Square for registration, issue of hi-viz jackets and radios

1.45am-2.00pm Briefing

2.00pm-2.30pm Stewards to allocated zones

2.30pm-3.45pm Stewarding zones as required

3.45pm-4.00pm Returning to Market Square for debrief.

A small number of stewards who could stay beyond 4.00pm would be useful to assist in the breakdown of the events and assisting in the troop hospitality venue.

  1. I would have loved to have helped but unfortunately I am working that weekend sorry
    I could however ask the kca committee if they have any one that fancies it?
