Sunset runners chase down PBs

Friday night saw the running of the Ickworth Sunset Chase 10K – by the look of some of the photos the sunset was truly worth chasing! Charlotte Denley chased down a new PB of 57:33 and Danielle Pettiford reduced her 10K by nearly 11 minutes! Wow! Cheryl Eden, Kathy Dew and Karina Hunt were also out running for Haverhill along with Annette Hall and Gina HIckey under the beautiful evening sky. Sounds like one to definitely keep on the (ahem…) horizon for next year!

The ever popular and seen out event the Felixstowe Coastal 10 was held on Sunday which is part of our club championship and the Suffolk Grand Prix. Ten HRC runners took on the seafront route resulting in PBs and age category prizes! Mary Ann Tuli was 3rd in her age category and 13th lady. Grace judge was 2nd in her age category. David Percy finished in a super speedy time of 1:07:41. Jo Rosenwold continues her PB streak by running the race 6:48 minutes faster than her previous for a new PB of 1:27:44. Daniel Pelling improved on last years time by a good four minutes. Also in attendance were Tracy Quarrell, Ross Arnold, Brigitte Heard, Sue Turley and Louise Harris.

There were some firsts this week with Rhiannon Marie trying out a duathlon and finishing brilliantly in 4th place! Shirley Fowler was 1st in her age category in the Ouse Valley Marathon with Michelle Brazier Gardner (who also ran the sunset 10k) and Jackie Dockerill. Vanessa Hardy ran her furthest distance so far – well done, keep it up!

There were some parkrun PBs this week! Clare Everitt, also on a PB streak is now sub 25 minutes for her 5k and Sarah Harris knocked nearly a minute off her recent PB, expertly assisted by Dan. She is now only 6 seconds away from sub 30! Rob Wigmore got a new 5K PB of 27:31 at Haverhill and Martin Lawrence snapped up the first place spot!!

There was also the small matter of the Round Norfolk Relay! A huge effort from lots of members whether they were running, cycling, marshalling or supporting in any way! Well done everyone! I don’t even know where to start with a report for that so maybe someone who was there wants to volunteer!
