Juniors debut at cross country relays

Last weekend our junior section officially kicked off cross country season! Five teams travelled to Bourne Park in Ipswich to compete in the Ipswich Jaffa Junior 2019 Cross Country relay. Now in it’;s fourth year HRC certainly made in impact in their debut year.

U11 and U13 age groups ran a relay course of 2K and U15 and U17 ran a 3K course.

In the U17 boys team were Sorren Spall, George Noakes and Peter Johnston. All three ran a really strong race and dominated this age group, coming in 1st place!

Our U15 boys team was made up of Tobin Sari, Benji Darken and Ben Phillips. The boys all ran brilliantly and claimed 2nd place in their age group!

For the first time the event allowed mixed teams and our U15 mixed team finished in 3rd place! Emily Cutting, Juliette Bigley and Ted Salt all worked together brilliantly to achieve this result.

Two U13 teams competed. Tom Phillips, Charlie Noakes and Charlie Minnette came in 4th and the U13B team of Josh Wigmore, Adam Everett and Harry Minnette finished in 5th place.

All of our juniors showed great team spirit and cheered on their fellow runners. Junior parents were also brilliant through the day.

This is an outstanding start to the season with some brilliant team and individual performances. All of the Suffolk Winter League fixtures have 11-16 year old junior races that we hope to see lots of faces at. Some fixtures have U11 runs but not all. I’m sure Sil and the team are already looking ahead to the County Championship event on 6th January 2020.
