Pull up a chair and make a cup of tea because this is has been an epic week of running!
Fifteen HRC runners took on the 10 mile distance and first home for Haverhill was Chris Hawkins in 1:05:54 and Chris was 2nd in the MV50 age category. Craig Sisson was second HRC male back and second MS. Cheryl Trundle was first HRC female home and 1st in the FV60+ category with her time of 1:24:38. Daniel Pelling got himself a 2:30 PB and 3rd MV45. Rob Wigmore is continuing his run of new PBs with a brilliant finishing time of 1:31:55. Mel Catten took on the 10 mile for the first time and finished strong also with Sarah Hammett-Ridsdale who came down for a visit!
The five mile event was won by Samuel Burnett of Stowmarket Striders in a blistering time of 28:26. First female position went to Gemma Porch, also of Stowmarket Striders who completes the course in 36:10. Simon Wallis was first home for HRC of 38 members running in 12th position with a PB time of 34:39. Tracy Quarrell was first HRC female home and second female overall and she also finished first in the FV45 category with her new PB time of 37:53. Tracy keeps the 10th place on the club records with this time! It was a clean sweep for HRC ladies in this category. Mary-Ann Tuli was close behind Tracy for 2nd FV45 in 38:48 and Sarah Murkin took 3rd FV45. Michelle Seymour finished 2nd FS and Brigitte Heard was 1st FV55. James Briggs was 2nd MV40 in a time of 45:56. Cheryl Eden got a new PB of 46:27. Jo Hammond was a minute and a half quicker in our challenging rave than at the Fast5 which is brilliant! Andy Hammett-Ridsdale got a new PB of 46:07. Sally Johnston was 2:39 faster for a new PB and a whopping 13:18 faster than her run here last year! Natasha Smith improves her five mile time by nearly four minutes and Fran Williams was faster by one minute. Paul Sherrit ran a seasons best. There were a few first timers who all did brilliantly including Rhiannon Beale (44:04), Kevin Barker (51:09), Denver Lloyd (59:12), Lynette Garstang ran he first five miler this year also and was number 1!😁 Dionne Walford tan Thurlow 5 for the second time and got herself a huge 5 minute PB!
Sandra Hiscox took the black and silver to Cork and won her age category in her race!
Chris Hall took on what sounds like a tough run and finished Pedro’s 10k in County Durham.
Melissa Wadsall is getting close to a sub 30 5k with her new time of 30:21 at parkrun. Go Melissa! Kristina Bright was 2nd in her age category at Millennium Country Park parkrun. Stephen Miller was doing some parkrun tourism at Fell Foot in Windermere.
Suz Carter-White and Alison Smith have the major running bug and ran not one, not two but three races this weekend! They ran the Thetford Night Trail 10k, an inflatable 5k (with Louise Harris and Sarah Harris) ant then ran Thurlow 5 on the Sunday! Well done ladies, that’s commitment!
HRC was represented at the Cambridge Town and Gown 10k and there were some great runs. Russell Docking got a three minute PB finishing in 46:52. Kellie Garrod also had a great run and finished with a new PB of 56:04 with Mel Mansfield hot on her heels in 56:05 for another PB. Alison Goodwin got another PB and knocked nearly a minute and a half off her already speedy 10k to finish in 45:55. Fiona Tideswell had a fantastic run and finished sub-40 in 39:57 after a brilliant First Lady finish at Bedford parkrun the day before! Despite not being her PB this run puts Fiona 2nd on the club records for 10k! Michelle Brazier Gardner got a new PB of 54:33
Sunday Sunriser Carl Oldford put all his training into practice at Chelmsford Marathon and it paid off! Carl finished in 4:16:26 with a small PB of over 40 MINUTES! Yes, minutes! Well done Carl you worked hard for that and it was all worth it!
