Hi everyone. Please check your emails for the announcement about the AGM. If you cannot find it please check your junk mail. It will arrive at the email address you used for joining the club. The content is also printed below.
Dear Haverhill Running Club members,
It has been a very different year this year. As a club I feel that we have navigated our way through this global pandemic admirably, supporting each other and keeping people motivated along the way. HRC has an amazing reputation for supporting members and non-members alike and it has really showed this year despite the challenges.
In light of the current government restrictions we are unable to hold our annual Awards Night or the Annual General Meeting (AGM). We are aiming to still present some awards albeit virtually. However, the restrictions on events and gatherings of people mean that we cannot hold an in-person AGM. Some clubs and organisations are holding them virtually however we feel this may not be fully accessible to all club members. The committee have therefore taken the decision to postpone the AGM until 2021. If we are still unable to hold one in person by March, we will organise a virtual event.
What does that mean for the club?
Each year at the AGM we round up the finances and events over the year. We will still do this but provide an online link for you to view. We also normally elect/re-elect a new committee. Current committee members have been consulted as to whether they wish to continue in their role. Some are prepared to stay on but some vacancies will arise at the end of November. According to the club constitution the committee can co-opt new members during the administrative year (1st December – 30th November). If you would like to join the committee and have a larger input in HRC we would love to hear from you. There are spaces for ‘ordinary’ members and also named ‘honorary’ members (Captain etc).
Please have a look on the website at the job roles available and what is required for each (https://haverhillrunningclub.com/club-info/). We are very collaborative and supportive as a committee and whilst it is not a ‘normal’ year we have still been working hard. Please contact a current committee member if you have any questions and we will be happy to help you.
If you would like to join us, please contact myself or Trev Bunch (secretary) by 17:00 Friday 27th November 2020.
This is a really great way to have your say and make an impact at HRC – it is your club and we value your input immensely!
