A Thurlow thank you

I don’t know where to start. What a weekend! Well what a year if you count all the planning and postponements!!

I think we can all join and say well done and congratulations to Trev Bunch for planning and directing a brilliant and safe race. Trev has put in SO much work behind the scenes which resulted in a really professional and enjoyable event.

Keeley White was awesome in the role of chief marshal and was so calm and organised! We couldn’t have done it without all the volunteers and their relatives so please accept a massive thank you from the committee and HRC.

Some very honourable mentions to Graeme Johnston for diligently removing the cow pats from the start area! Thank you Wendy Aldhouse for keeping the toilets so pristine people were using them as changing rooms! Not the most glamorous jobs but absolutely essential! David Bray was our excellent covid officer on the day keeping people in check. Car park crew did a great job keeping everyone organised. The water stations were well stocked and easy to use. Signage and course set up was great thanks to the White (Mark White) family.
Well done to the start/finish marshals for helping everyone into the correct pens and enabling social distancing.

Thank you to all the marshals and anyone who cheered runners on. People look forward to our events due to our reputation of having brilliant marshals and that was shown again today – even behind a mask we knew you were rooting for us!!

Thurlow estates were great in letting us use their land again and we have to thank them too.

I feel so proud to be part of HRC and that we have been able to put in one of the first pandemic times running races in Suffolk.
Well done again – what’s next?

  1. Thank you all for enabling this run to go ahead! Meant a lot to many of us I’m sure! Well done, Kudos & good job to all of your helpers!

  2. I am grateful to Trevor and the team. The organization of the event was fantastic and it was noted how friendly and encouraging everyone was. I ran the 5m race with my elder daughter, her first competitive event ever….she was quite nervous (“I don’t like competitive things”) and she already wants to come back next year and do the 10m. So a big thank you from me.
