If you’re aged 8-17 then Junior Membership is for you. If not, visit the Senior Membership page for further information.
Benefits of Junior Membership
We are an inclusive club that welcomes everyone – from those who want to run to stay healthy, those who want to improve their fitness to help them perform better in another sport like football or hockey, to those who want to be fast and compete in races. Whatever your reasons for joining HRC as a young person, they are all perfectly valid.
There are lots of benefits to Junior Membership, apart from keeping fit and healthy of course, including:
- A dedicated Club App providing all the information you need in one place
- Weekly club training
- Free entry to team races
- Annual awards
- Support and encouragement of our trained and dedicated coaches
- Access to the club’s Facebook page (for ages 13+ and with parental/carer consent)
- Exclusive offers and discounts.
As an England Athletics Affiliated Club, registered athletes will also be entitled to reduced race entry fees (subject to any minimum age requirements for race entry) and other discounts and benefits. For further information about the benefits of athlete registration, click here.
Membership categories and fees
The membership year runs from 1st April to 31st March.
One of the following membership categories, which include registration with England Athletics, will apply depending on your circumstances:
- First Claim Membership: £49 of which £23 is payable to England Athletics for your athlete registration. First Claim Membership means that Haverhill Running Club is your main club and will appear on your competition licence.
- First Claim (Family) Membership – £47 of which £23 is payable to England Athletics for your athlete registration. First Claim (Family) Membership is applicable if one or more of your family members, living at the same address, are already First Claim members of HRC and at least one of them has paid the full First Claim Membership fee.
Note: If you join as a First Claim member between January and March and have NOT previously been registered with England Athletics, your HRC membership and your registration with England Athletics will remain valid until 31st March of the following year.
- Second Claim Membership – applicable if you already have First Claim membership with another club: £26. Your competition licence will state the name of the other club, who will pay the England Athletics registration fee.
Membership fees are non-refundable.
Deciding whether HRC membership is for you
To maximise the benefits that you can enjoy as a junior member of HRC, we keep our training groups relatively small. As such, there’s a limited number of junior places, which can mean there is often a waiting list. Please contact us at juniors@haverhillrunningclub.com so we can advise you about membership availability.
If we have confirmed that there is a place available and you’re sure that running is for you, we’ll arrange for you to attend 3 ‘free’ taster sessions and give you temporary access to the Club App.
If during the taster sessions you find that running is not for you, or another sport takes up all your time, please let us know so that we can offer your place to another person. If not and you’d like to proceed to full membership at the end of the trial simply click ‘Update Membership’ at the top of the App Welcome screen and you’ll be presented with the membership application form.
Submitting your membership application
Instructions for completing the membership application are given in the introduction to the form, which should be completed by your parent or guardian.
By submitting the application form you agree to the following:
- To abide by HRC and Adopted England Athletics Policies (including the applicable Code(s) of Conduct, Anti-Doping Rules, Safeguarding Policies and Grievance and Disciplinary Procedures), the HRC Facebook rules, and other relevant membership requirements.
- For your personal details to be shared with England Athletics and used to set up your athlete profile on the myAthletics portal. Details of disclosed health conditions and/or medications may be shared with club coaches and if you participate in team events in future your name and date of birth may be shared with race organisers.
Full details of how HRC use your personal data are given in our Privacy Notice.
Once you’ve submitted your application you’ll be asked to pay the required membership fee. The membership fee can be paid on the App using a credit or debit card.
Once the membership fee has been paid your application will be approved and you’ll receive a welcome e-mail giving you lots of useful information about the Club. You’ll also receive an e-mail from England Athletics giving you access to the myAthletics portal, where you’ll be able to review and manage the personal details they hold about you.
Further instructions on the use and features of the Club App can be found in the App User Guide.
