Member Of The Month

⭐⭐⭐Member of the Month for January 2020 is…….
Shirley Fowler⭐⭐⭐

A little bit about Shirley.

Shirley joined the club in 2007 and is a very supportive member who helps out with our beginners course.

Our reason.

Shirley set a goal to run 100 marathons and achieved that amazing goal in December at the Great Barrow Challenge. Shirley ran a total of 23 marathons in 2017, 24 marathons in 2018 (during which she ran 4 marathons back to back!) and 29 marathons in 2019!! What a remarkable achievement Shirley, well done from all of us 😊

⭐⭐⭐Member of the Month for October is…….
Ross Arnold⭐⭐⭐

Alittle bit about him:
Ross has been a member of HRC for around three years and spent a year of that on the committee.
He is our go to guy for tech, he setup our new website and always does time trial results.

Our reason:
This month Ross volunteered to pace at least three of our members at races over two different distances and got each one of them huge pbs. This is all with a newborn baby at home.
Congratulations Ross.
Keep up the good work.

🌟🌟🌟Member of the month for September is…….
Joanne Rosenwold🌟🌟🌟

A little bit about her:
Jo joined HRC in December 2012.
She is a supportive member of the club who often runs with others to help them achieve their goals and has taken part in many marathons around the world.

Our reason:
On 22nd September, Jo ran in the very first ‘Worlds fastest marathon’ in Spain along with 108 others, including 2 elite Kenyan athletes.
The event was incredibly tough, Jo suffered with bouts of altitude sickness and had to stop numerous times. Despite this, Jo was one of only a handful of runners who managed a pb. She did infact knock a massive 32 minutes off her previous pb and finished in an amazing time of 4hrs 6m 🏃‍♀️😲
Not content with running a marathon this month, Jo has also taken part in The Great North Run, Felixstowe 10 and RAF Honington 10k and gained pbs at ALL of them!!!!

Great running Jo, well done.

🌟🌟🌟Member of the month for August is Tobin Sari🌟🌟🌟

Alittle bit about him:
Tobin joined the junior section of HRC in September 2018 after enjoying triathlons but wanting to improve his running and after seeing his friend Ben doing well within the juniors.

Our reasons:
Not only did Tobin take part and come third in our junior Kevin Henry event in an amazing time of 7m 15, he then took on the infamous Cock Hill in the senior event and finished in a fabulous time of 20.53.
Tobin is a great asset to the club and another one to watch in the future.
Keep up the good work Tobin.

🌟🌟🌟July Member of the Month is Peter Miller🌟🌟🌟

Alittle bit about him:
Peter joined the club around three years ago after running a few Parkruns while at uni and realising that he could ‘run quite well’ and often came in the top three.
When his sister Sarah entered the Haverhill marathon, Peter decided to do it as well with only around eight weeks training and still managed a great time of 3hrs 35.

Our reason:
Peter recently took in the MK5000m and finished in an astonishing 15.45 😮
and came second in his race!
Peter is a quiet member of the club who trains hard and that training is really paying off with great results and amazing times.

Well done Peter

⭐⭐⭐Member of the month for June is Sally Johnston⭐⭐⭐

A little bit about her:
Sally graduated from the Beginners Course in July last year, since then she has improved her time trial time by over 14 minutes

Our Reason:
Sally has really improved as a runner through the month both in the Friday Five series and in particular she had a very strong run at the Steeple Bumpstead 10k where she also made sure she looked after another club member who was injured.

Then she moved to joint top of the PB league by setting another personal best at the time trial, just over 31 minutes which is amazing progress!

Sally always runs with a massive smile on her face and continues to inspire other runners to achieve times and distances that they didn’t know they were capable of at the Sunday Runday social runs.

⭐⭐⭐Member of the month for May is John Nevin⭐⭐⭐

Alittle bit about him:
John has been a member of HRC for a number of years and has achieved many catergory prizes and podium finishes over his running career.

Our reason:
At the beginnng of the month, John represented GB in his age cat at the European duathlon championships.
The event consisted of a four lap 10k run on narrow cobbled streets, which John completed in 51 minutes in 26° heat.
Next was an extremely hilly bike ride and then to finish, a 5k run which John mamaged in a respectable 31 minutes.
Well done John.

⭐⭐⭐Member of the Month for April is Craig Sisson⭐⭐⭐

Alittle bit about him:
Craig joined the club around 6 years ago after his wife Nicole joined the club.
Craig enjoys the social side of running and the evening runs get him out of bedtime chores with his toddler!!

Our reasons:
Not one to shout about his achievments, Craig has run two marathons this month (Manchester and London) within three weeks of each other and on both occasions managed sub 3.30.
Craig gained his London place via the club ballot and did the club proud in his black and silver vest, even when cramp struck, he dug deep and finished in a great time.
Well done Craig.

⭐⭐⭐Member of the Month for March is Helen Louise⭐⭐⭐

Alittle bit about her;
Helen joined our beginners course in January 2016 with the aim of completing a 5km Race for life without walking or disgracing herself (of which she did neither).

Our reasons;
While running Cambridge half marathon at the beginning of March, her running buddy pulled up injured at mile 7 and had to walk/run the remainder of the run.
Before the injury, the ladies were running at a pace near to Helens pb time. Helen, being the lovely lady that she is, decided to for go her pb chance and accompany her partner on her walk/run to the end.
Helen encouraged her friend to shout, scream and cry (whatever she wanted or needed to do to get round) and even held her hand from mile 10 to to the finish line.

Well done Helen, a true friend.

⭐⭐⭐Member of the month for February is Kirsty Millard⭐⭐⭐

A little bit about her;
Kirsty started running after the birth of her son to get fit and lose the baby weight.
She found the training needed for the longer distances gave her ‘me time’.
She has been an HRC member for around nine years and has completed more than 25 marathons and four ultra marathons!!

Our reason;
On 10th Feb, Kirsty ran The Olympic Park half marathon in an incredible time of 1hr 32m coming 5th in her age catergory and finishing in 278th place out of 4056 runners and putting her 5th in the HRC club records.
If that wasn’t enough, kirsty then went on to complete Tarpley 20 on 24th Feb in an awesome time of 2hrs 31m and putting her in top spot on the all time HRC club records by around 3 minutes!! Her time also secured her second in her age cat.
Fabulous running Kirsty.
Well done.

⭐⭐⭐⭐January member of the month is Gina Hickey.⭐⭐⭐⭐

Alittle bit about her;
Gina joined our beginners course in January 2018 with the aim to run a 5k non stop for charity.

Our reason;
Despite having her own battles with injury and an operation at the end of last year and just building up her own mileage, this month Gina helped her friend cope with her running anxieties when she wanted to return to running after a break.
Her friend suffered from anxiety and panic attacks at the very thought of running.
Gina, with her calm and caring approach was there to listen to her friends fears and gave up her time to run with her when she needed her. Gina was there every step of the way to build her confidence and get her pounding the streets again.
Well done Gina.
