Summer Route 8

Full Route (6.1 miles)

  1. From LC run along railway walk towards Tesco, cross the bridge, and continue to Howe Road
  2. Cross Howe Road and continue along footpath bearing R, then L, then R, then L across bridge
  3. At end of path TL and take 2nd exit off roundabout towards Sainsbury (A1307)
  4. Run on LHS of road past Sainsbury, across next roundabout, and past the Flying Shuttle
  5. Just before entrance for Epicentre, cross the road and head down the small slope
  6. TR onto the footpath just before the five-bar gate, cross the footbridge, and follow the footpath across the middle of the field
  7. At the field edge TR and begin to go gently downhill, turning L into the hole in the hedge after about 50 meters
  8. Head straight up the grassy field edge (hedge on RHS) towards the single tree
  9. TR at the tree and follow the footpath cut across the field, then TL once you reach the field edge and continue uphill
  10. At the top of the hill go straight ahead following the footpath cut through the field that takes you downhill. Join the gravel track at the end and head towards the road
  11. Alternatively, if no path cut through the field, TL and run along the track around the field to the road at the bottom
  12. TR onto the road and follow this down into Withersfield, passing the church (on LHS)
  13. At the T junction TL and head up the hill (on the road to Thurlow)
  14. TR onto the footpath after the 30 MPH sign and continue to follow the grass track.
  15. TR where a gravel track crosses the footpath then immediately left and over the narrow footbridge.
  16. Continue along the grassy track (crossing a gravel track) until you reach the bottom of Hales Barn Road
  17. Turn right and then left on the roundabout.
  18. Just before the next roundabout, TL onto the footpath and follow this all the way back to the LC.

Short Route (3.9 miles)

  1. From LC run along railway walk towards Tesco, cross the bridge, and continue all the way to Howe Road
  2. Cross Howe Road and continue along footpath, bearing R, then L, then R, then L across bridge
  3. At end of path cross the road and TL, then take 2nd exit off roundabout towards Sainsbury (A1307)
  4. After a short distance, TR up steps towards the flood park
  5. Run around the outer perimeter of flood park to bring you back to the start point
  6. Go back down the steps to the road and run back towards Haverhill
  7. At roundabout take 2nd exit then TR onto footpath
  8. Follow the footpath then railway walk all the way back to LC
