Congratulations to Louise Harris, winner of the HRC London Marathon draw at the AGM last night.
Unfortunately, TCS London Marathon only allocated HRC one entry this year. This is because we did not have quite enough adult First Claim members when the allocations were made earlier in the year – we needed 190 or more to get two entries. TCS have also reduced the number of allocations available to affiliated clubs.
In order to make the draw fairer and give our members the best possible chance of getting a London Marathon place in future, it has been agreed that from next year. there will be two additional criteria that members must meet in order to enter the Club draw.
Members will be required to demonstrate that they:
- have NOT run the London Marathon within the last FIVE years;
- have supported the club through one or more voluntary roles within the previous 12 months.*
*There are plenty of voluntary roles that members can do, including serving as a committee member, acting as a coach, acting as run leader or Thursday night group pacer, acting as Welfare Officer, marshalling at the HRC Time Trial and at our Cross Country and 5K events, providing support for the RNR, helping to manage the HRC stand at events, and a variety of other roles.
We hope you will agree that this is fair and will provide everyone with a better chance of getting to the London Marathon start line.
