Ekiden 2026

Pictured below are some of our members who joined the HRC Ekiden teams on Sunday 5th July. Alas, some team members were either running their leg or had wandered off to get a coffee, just at the wrong time!

For those who don’t know what Ekiden is, it’s basically a marathon run as a relay race. It’s a Japanese invention where each team member runs a leg – one 7.2K, three 5Ks and two 10Ks.

This year’s Ekiden was as enjoyable as ever, despite the warm weather and what seemed like a never ending stream of hairpin bends around the course! We had three teams of six runners – one ladies team and two men’s teams.

Results of the team races can be found HERE.

Results of the individual legs completed by team members can be found HERE.

Thanks to all members who stepped forward and joined the teams, especially the three members who ran two legs. Team members included Mark Ashwood, Chris Bareham, Sofia Brown, Sarah Davies, Steve Foster, James Hymas, Grace Judge, Paul Mitchell, Ray Mooney, Mark Novels, Kate Russell, Horace Shuriah, Jack Tappin, Cheryl Trundle, and Cameron Wishart. Thanks also to our team captains, Kelly and Jack, for organising the teams.
