Haverhill Running Club Grand Prix 2018 – Open to EVERYONE!!
The Grand Prix Series is intended as an added incentive to run in local races and have some fun at the same time.
To make things easier this year and to allow everyone a chance of completing the required number, more races have been added to this year’s list. i will also provide regular updates throughout the season.
The GP uses the WAVA age grading system:
and has races over different distances and terrain, IT IS THE TRUE LEVELLER OF ABILITY– being the fastest runner does not win the GP!
Awards will be given to the top 3 males and females, the trophy will be awarded to the overall winner.
Rules and eligible races are listed below (I have tried to keep the races as local as possible this year).
Good luck and most importantly HAVE FUN!!
Grand Prix Rules
The scoring will be done by the WAVA age grading system so that it gives a fairer chance to all.
Points are out of 100 for each race.
The best six races will be scored from all the GP races you race plus….
a bonus race which you may either choose yourself, (any race run and notified to me prior to racing) -or your 7th highest scoring GP race will automatically be entered.
Any 20 mile plus race can be recorded however these are usually low on the WAVA scale. Please let me know if you complete one and would like it added.
No more than 7 races will count towards the final score.
Cut off for all races this year will be 1st November 2018 no results can be taken after this date.
To be in the HRC Grand Prix series you must be a paid-up club member and wear your club vest when racing.
The Kevin Henry series and Suffolk Grand Prix will score bonus points this year.

On 28th January 5 HRC members attended the Leadership in Running Fitness (LiRF) course at Bury St. Edmunds. Jamie Randall, Joan Nevin, Carl Oldford, Steve Oglesby and Craig Ladley successfully completed the training day and now join our existing run leaders. Well done everyone!
We applied for bursaries from the Greater Cambridge Athletics Network to support these courses. These are not guaranteed but I am pleased to say that all five bursaries were approved! This means that we have more funds than expected to be able to put more runners through this course later this year. There was a huge amount of interest in doing the course and unfortunately not everyone could be picked this time around. However, if you were unsuccessful for this group then you will have priority for later in the year!!
We look forward to seeing our new leaders out and about with HRC!
Here is your committee for 2018. As always if you have any questions, suggestions or issues please come and speak to or contact one of us. There will soon be new email addresses for committee which will be posted as soon as they are available. We are excited and proud to represent HRC during 2018!!
