Trev takes on Beachy Head

Dedicated coach Trev Bunch took on the infamous Beachy Head Trail Marathon this weekend! This monster course has an imposing uphill start and 3700ft of ascent throughout! Trev finished in 4:06 in the top 5% of finishers, an absolutely storming time on this course and was 123rd out of the 2200 runners who tackled the event.
There were lots of runners representing HRC at the Haversports St. Eds Running Festival last weekend. Event included th marathon, Taylor Wimpey Half Marathon, Knights Lowe 10K and the fun run. Kevin Millard and Marc Benson both ran the marathon and both got new PBs! Marc finished in 3:55:42, a 7 minute PB and in 17th place. Kevin finished in 18th with a time of 3:56:09 and a small (!) PB of 31 minutes! Amazing, well done guys.
Nine HRC ran in the half and there were some PBs and some great experiences for first timers! Kellie Garrod ran her first half and finished in 2:09:36. Charlotte Denley also made her half marathon debut, finishing not long after Kellie in 2:10:12. Michelle Seymour also did the distance for the first time and had a great run finishing in 2:05:48. Daniel Pelling finished in 9th overall and claimed a new 5 minute PB with his time of 1:31:16. They were also joined by Tracy Quarrell, Claire Anderson, Bryn Stuppell, Michelle Gardner and Fran Williams.
31 HRC were in the 10K and there were lots of great runs and a few PBs! Cheryl Eden knocked over a minute off her previous 10K time to finish in 57:11, Gina Hickey got her first 10K PB by a brilliant 43 seconds! Jemma Benson has a new PB time of 1:04:18 and Sarah Camfields best time for 10K now stands at 57:15. Following on from her huge PB at Abington Rhiannon Beale took nearly 2 and a half more minutes off her 10K PB to finish in 52:24. Rob Goodwin improved his previous 10K by 21 seconds for a new PB of 50:46. Sarah Harris finished in 1:02:49, another minute and five seconds off and Stacey Anne Hall ran a new PB time of 56:29. Sally Johnston ran this run 15 minutes faster this year than last year! She also gained a new 10K PB by 2:34 and completed a PB for every weekend in October! Grace Judge was 4th in her age category and Suz Carter-White ran a course best. Paul Murkin was first HRC runner home and finished a brilliant 5th overall and 2nd in his age category with his time of 39:17.
Shirley Fowler was out on the marathon trail again this weekend! She ran two trail marathons this weekend! Saturday she was accompanied by junior coach Sil Clay and then Sunday Shirley and Jackie Dockerill took on the 26.2 again!
At our home event junior runner Ben Phillips finished 2nd! He is in the JM11-14 category and ran the course in 19:11 for a new PB and was only 15 seconds behind the winner!! Ben is certainly one to watch! Nicki Davis was first female to finish. Our junior section were out practicing for this weeks cross country event. Charlie Noakes was 2nd JM11-14 with 23:14 followed by Josh Wigmore in 24:39. Sorren Spall finished in 2nd JM15-17 with a time of 25:15 and Geore Noakes to a new PB of 25:28. Emily Cutting ran her first 5k and finished really strongly in a time of 32:15. Well done juniors, rat prep for Sunday!!
There was quite a bit of parkrun tourism this weekend! Christoper Hall was up north and did Whinlatter Forest parkrun in the Lake District that had some major ascent in it! Karen iron ran at Hunstanton park and also got a new 5K PB of 38:35. Terry Braverman keeps adding to his 400+ park runs and this time ran in Newcastle and also Douglas on the Isle of Man parkruns. Paul Game finished in 1st place at Clacton Seafront and Fiona Tideswell was 2nd lady, only 5 seconds behind 1st at Portsmouth Lakeside parkrun. Andrew and Sarah Hammett-Ridsdale ran at Mole Valley parkrun and the Martin family, Andrew, Stanley and Mary all ran at Strokestown parkrun in Ireland.
